GUPPIES

The guppy is one of the most abundantly distributed tropical fish species in the world, and is also one of the most popular freshwater aquarium fish.

Breeders create a range of guppy strains with various colors, patterns, shapes, and sizes of fins, such as snakeskin and grass types, by selective breeding. Many domestic strains differ significantly from their wild-type ancestors in terms of physical characteristics. Many domestic strains have larger males and females than their wild-type ancestors and are much more profusely ornamented.

By the time they are born, guppies are fully mature and capable of living on their own without the assistance of their parents. Antipredator strategies are taught to young guppies in school. Brood size varies greatly among populations, however there are some persistent variances based on predation levels and other factors. In high-predation situations, females of similar body sizes produce more offspring with smaller sizes. Female guppies begin reproducing at 10–20 weeks of age and continue to do so until they are 20–34 months old. Male guppies mature in about 7 weeks.

They can depend on anything that they can eat. Sometimes mature fish eats new born off springs.
Guppies are the world commonest and cheapest popular ornamental fish variety.
